In early February of 1977, a few ladies in the newly planned community of Brandermill gathered to discuss the idea of establishing a woman's club. By March of the same year, they held their first meeting and the Brandermill Garden and Woman's Club of Midlothian, VA had been established. While our name has changed, our goals have remained constant; to support our community.
Over the years, BWC has raised thousands of dollars, including scholarships to Clover Hill High School graduating seniors, Swift Creek Middle School and the Swift Creek Elementary School Carol Deaton Fund. Upon the death of charter members Helen Sluss, Pat White, and Pat Bliedorn, the BWC began an annual memorial scholarship in their memory, awarded annually to two meritorious students.
The BWC also supports other community programs. Recipients have included FeedMore, Thrive Network Outreach and Sylvia's Sisters .
